The development of new materials is essential to increasing the material
well-being of our lives. Materials are chemical substances and their aggregates,
which are formed from atoms and molecules; in order to develop new materials
both applied rsearch and a deepening and broadening of our understanding of
the essence of matter, centering on chemistry, are necessary.
It is also the role of materials research and study to help solving
the various environmental, resource, and energy problems that confront us.
Based on faculty in three broad divisions (21 research fields) and
two courses of Study (Molecular Materials Engineering and Material
Substances Engineering), the Chemistry and Materials Technology takes as
its purpose the training of the researchers, engineers, and teachers that
will fulfill this role.
